Frequently Asked Questions

Below are some most commonly asked questions and answers:

SSDI is part of Social Security. If you’ve been working and paying taxes, you have been paying for SSDI. SSDI benefits can act as a “safety net” if a medical condition is preventing you from working or doing the things you used to do. If you qualify, SSDI will provide you with additional income, on a temporary or permanent basis.

SSDI is administered by the Social Security Administration, but the real answer is that SSDI comes from you. SSDI is funded by a portion of the payroll (FICA) taxes that you pay while working. SSDI is an insurance benefit that you’ve paid for and earned. To qualify for SSDI benefits, most individuals must have worked and paid FICA taxes.

The main qualifications for SSDI are:

  • You have worked 5 of the last 10 years and paid FICA taxes
  • You’re diagnosed with a disabling medical condition expected to last at least 12 months or result in death
  • You’re a U.S. Citizen or lawfully admitted resident of the U.S. between the ages of 18 and 64
  • You’re unable to do the work you previously did and are unable to find new work because of your medical condition
  • Visit the Social Security Administration for a full list of qualifying conditions, or take our simple assessment survey to find out if you qualify for SSDI. Our representatives will make sure to get you the help you need.

All SSDI applications have to be submitted to the Social Security Administration. You can submit this application by yourself, with the help of a lawyer, or with Advocate Representation from a firm like SSDC Services.

  • You can submit by yourself, but the application is long and complicated. Only 30% of applications are approved at the initial stage.
  • You can work with an attorney. But, you’re often going to hear “go apply, and once you’ve been denied, come and see us.”
  • Finally, you can work with SSDC Services. Our goal is to get you benefits as quickly as possible. As your SSDI Representative, we’ll work with you to complete the application, providing you tips that we’ve picked up over 40 years to help win your claim. And, if you are denied, we will be with you every step of the way, fighting for the benefits you deserve. You never have to worry about getting in touch with us – you can call us anytime with questions or concerns. With our 97% success rate and unparalleled customer service, you’re in good hands.
