The Application Process

QUESTION? ASK NOW!

1. The Initial Application

An SSDI claim must be submitted to your local Social Security Administration (SSA) office. SSDC Services will help you through every step of the paperwork, work with your doctors to submit documentation for your claim and use our expertise to strengthen and support the most important parts of the application before submitting it to the SSA on your behalf. We’ll keep in touch with you throughout the process and make sure all the deadlines are met.

2. Reconsideration

If your SSDI application is denied, you have 60 days from the date of denial to file a Request for Reconsideration to the SSA. As your Advocate, SSDC Services will assist you with the completion of additional forms, ensure that ALL your doctors are submitting relevant medical evidence, and provide updates to SSA, allowing them to make their decision based on the most recent information. And of course, we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

3. Administrative Hearing

If your Request for Reconsideration is denied, you have 60 days from the denial to file a Request for Hearing. Prior to attending a hearing with an Administrative Law Judge, SSDC Services will request a favorable “on-the-record” decision – asking to award your claim without the need to attend the hearing. If not granted, you’ll go before the Administrative Law Judge – with SSDC acting as your Advocate presenting your case. We will continually work with your doctors to collect the most up to date information, consistently update SSA, and obtain updates on the status of your claim.

4. Appeals Process

If you disagree with the hearing decision, you may request a review by Social Security’s Appeals Council. The Appeals Council looks at all requests for review, but it may deny a request if it believes the hearing decision was supported and in accordance with Social Security law and regulations. If the Appeals Council decides to review your case, it will either decide your case itself or return it to an Administrative Law Judge for further review.
