The Social Security Administration (SSA) will stop issuing paper checks for Social Security and other federal benefits starting September 30, 2025.

This change is part of a broader effort by the federal government to transition to electronic payments for all federal benefits.  The transition to digital payments is intended to streamline the process and reduce the risk of loss or theft of checks.
